Primary steps summer news

This summer term we held our annual Primary Steps Programme graduation on Saturday 28 May. Pupils in primary school Years 3-6 from across England visited us at the Upper School in Covent Garden, to put on an incredible show. We were joined by children from Blackpool, Bury St Edmunds, Dagenham, Mansfield Woodhouse and Swindon.

This was the 10th anniversary of the programme and year 6 students graduated on the day. They were also joined by dancers from Launch at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and Centre for Advanced Training, Dance 4.

As the 2015/16 academic year comes to a close, we would like to celebrate the achievements of some of our Primary Steps dancers:

  • Keisha Negussay Blackpool Level 2 performed earlier this year with Ballet Lorents at the Lowry, Salford Quays
  • India Durand Swindon Level 2 auditioned for the Junior Associates in Bath earlier this year and is on the waiting list
  • Amber Heatrick Bury Level 3 has successfully auditioned for a place on the DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training in Ipswich, Suffolk. She is the first Primary Steps graduate to win a place on this coveted programme
  • Joseph McGregor Blackpool Level 3 and Zayaan Rashid Dagenham Level 3 both won places on The Royal Ballet School’s Summer School at White Lodge and had a great week!

In addition, many Primary Steps graduates are thriving in Youth Groups, Gifted & Talented Groups and Centres for Advanced Training around the country. Congratulations to all of them.
