Kenneth MacMillan Emerging Choreographer 2019

On Thursday 12 December, Year 10 and 11 students presented their choreographic creations as part of the Kenneth MacMillan Emerging Choreographer programme.

The performances were the culmination of several months’ of preparation for the nine shortlisted choreographers.

After the performance, a panel of experts including Ashley Page, Andrew McNicol, Emma Southworth and Didy Veldman offered feedback to the students.

Throughout the creative process, each student benefited from improvisation classes, workshops with guest choreographers, collaborations with musicians, as well as regular discussions and meetings to reflect on their piece. The process means students were able to experience working as a professional choreographer, encompassing all the elements that make a production successful including; staging, props, lighting and costumes.
