Students stand at the front of a church singing christmas carols

Our Virtual Carol Service 2020

Each December, The Royal Ballet School would normally welcome students’ parents and friends to Christ Church in Sheen for our annual Carol Service. This year however, our first virtual Carol Service was streamed straight to peoples’ homes.

The School was fortunate enough to be able to take both Year 7 and Year 8 students, in their individual household bubbles, to the church in early December to record their carols.

The School kept the format of the virtual Carol Service as close as possible to the usual concert – interspersing readings between musical numbers, which loosely tell the Christmas story. Students performed Once in Royal David’s CityAway in a MangerSussex Carol and more.

Thanks to the Reverend Olwen Williamson and her team at Christ Church for welcoming us so warmly to the Church. Thank you to our pianist, Beatrice Nicholas, and organist, Bethany Reeves and our House staff and Operations teams for their support.

Watch our Year 7 students perform Carol of the Bells and get a sense of the beauty of the church we were fortunate enough to use.
