Summer performances 2025

Throughout the School year, students perform regularly at our in-house theatres and on some of the biggest public stages. These experiences are as integral to their training as perfecting their ballet technique and artistry. Through regular performances, students understand how to transform ballet vocabulary into a magical, exhilarating experience for an audience and how to use expressive movement to communicate a mood or emotion. They can also practice preparing, physically and mentally, for the stage.
The year’s highlight is our Summer Performances at beautiful Opera Holland Park and the Linbury Theatre, as well as on the prestigious main stage of the Royal Opera House. Each year, Artistic Director Iain Mackay chooses a selection of works to showcase the students’ technical skills, artistry, creativity and versatility.
This year, the School will present the ‘Aurora’s Wedding’ suite from Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, re-staged especially for the School by Anthony Dowell in 2018; Frederick Ashton’s charming Les Patineurs; and Morgann Runacre-Temple’s playful, rhythmic Swingle Stepping.
The programme will also include exciting new works by Ruth Brill, Hannah Joseph, Jessica Lang, and Arielle Smith, who will work with students on creations especially for these performances. Iva LeÅ¡ić will also bring a new piece to the stage, following her spirited Royal Remix at last summer’s performances.
The Royal Opera House matinée performance will end with the traditional Grand Défilé, which will bring all 212 students of the School together on stage.
